Unplug Cables and Power
2 minDisconnect the power supply, HDMI cable, and all accessories from the Xbox One console. Place the console on a flat, clean work surface.

Pry Off Side Vent Panel
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the bottom case and the side vent panel near the rear power port. Carefully pry the panel outward to unsnap its retaining clips.

Release Case Enclosure Latches
5 minSlide the plastic latch lock mechanism on the side vent slot down to the unlocked position. Use a spudger to release the plastic seam clips along the rear of the console.

Lift Top Outer Cover
2 minGently hinge open the top plastic shell from back to front. Do not pull the shell away completely yet, as the front power button cable is still attached.

Disconnect Front Panel Ribbon Cable
3 minLocate the flexible ribbon cable connecting the front panel board to the main chassis. Use tweezers to flip open the ZIF connector lock and pull the cable free.

Remove Wi-Fi Board Screws
2 minUse a T9 Security Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the Wi-Fi board to the top metal shield.

Disconnect Wi-Fi Card
2 minUnplug the small antenna cable connector from the Wi-Fi card. Lift the Wi-Fi card straight up from its slot on the top metal chassis.

Remove Chassis Top Screws
5 minUse a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the long screws securing the upper metal chassis shield to the bottom case.

Lift Off Metal Chassis Shield
2 minGently pull the top metal shield straight up to expose the internal drive components and motherboard.

Disconnect Disc Drive Cables
2 minSlightly lift the optical disc drive and unplug the SATA data and power cables from the back of the drive.

Lift Out Optical Disc Drive
2 minLift the disc drive straight out of the metal bottom tray and place it on an anti-static work pad.

Desolder Drive Motor Wires
8 minDesolder the red and black motor wires from the original drive's logic board. Clean the pad connection points using desoldering braid.

Transfer Drive Logic Board
10 minUnscrew the original drive's logic board and transfer it to the replacement disc drive. Solder the replacement drive's motor wires onto the original logic board to maintain system pairing.

Position New Disc Drive
3 minSet the new disc drive into the lower chassis tray, aligning its rubber mounting pegs with the tray slots.

Reconnect Disc Drive Cables
2 minPlug the SATA data cable and power cable securely into the ports on the back of the replacement disc drive.

Reinstall Metal Chassis Shield
4 minPlace the upper metal chassis shield back over the internal components and secure it with the T10 Torx screws.
