Unlatch bottom outer casing
3 minInsert a plastic spudger into the seam along the rear vents to pop open the plastic retaining clips.

Slide off bottom plastic shell
2 minSlide the bottom plastic shell sideways off the console to expose the inner metal casing.

Remove tamper-evident sticker
1 minPeel away the green warranty sticker on the rear panel to expose the hidden chassis screw.

Remove outer chassis screws
5 minUse a TR10 Security Torx screwdriver to remove all visible green-colored screws from the metal base.

Lift off top plastic cover
2 minTurn the console over and lift the top white plastic housing straight up off the metal frame.

Remove upper metal shield screws
4 minUnscrew the remaining T10 Torx screws holding the top metal shield to the inner chassis.

Remove upper metal shield
2 minLift the upper metal shield straight up and set it aside.

Disconnect Wi-Fi board
3 minUnscrew the Wi-Fi board retention screw and disconnect its antenna cable from the motherboard.

Remove internal power supply
3 minUnplug the 4-pin power connector from the motherboard and lift the power supply module out of the chassis.

Lift out hard drive assembly
3 minDisconnect the SATA power and data cables, then lift the hard drive tray straight up.

Remove optical disc drive
2 minUnplug the power and data connectors from the back of the disc drive and lift the drive out.

Unplug fan connector
2 minDisconnect the 4-pin fan wire connector from the socket on the motherboard using plastic tweezers or fingers.

Unclip fan from heatsink
2 minGently press the plastic retention tabs holding the fan shroud to the metal heatsink frame.

Remove defective fan
1 minLift the old cooling fan directly up and out of the console housing.

Position new cooling fan
2 minLower the replacement fan onto the heatsink assembly and press down until the plastic clips snap into place.

Connect new fan cable
2 minPlug the 4-pin fan cable back into its matching motherboard header until fully seated.
