Step-by-step

Remove Front Faceplate
2 minPull the front faceplate firmly away from the console chassis starting from the USB cover notch.

Detach Vent Grills
4 minUse a spudger to release the plastic clips holding the top and bottom ventilation grills.

Unsnap Back Case
4 minInsert an opening tool into the rear latch slots to unclip the back half of the plastic shell.

Separate Plastic Housing
3 minCarefully pry open the front tabs and lift the upper and lower outer plastic housing off the metal chassis.

Remove Case Screws
5 minUse a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the nine silver screws securing the metal casing.

Lift Metal Cover
2 minTurn the console over and lift off the top metal panel to expose the interior components.

Disconnect Disc Drive
3 minUnplug the SATA and power cables from the back of the optical drive and lift it out.

Remove Fan Duct
2 minUnclip and lift the plastic fan shroud away from the heat sinks.

Disconnect Cooling Fans
2 minUnplug the dual-fan connector from the motherboard and slide the fan assembly out.

Remove Motherboard Screws
4 minRemove the remaining short T8 Torx screws holding the motherboard to the lower case.

Extract Motherboard
3 minLift the motherboard straight up out of the lower metal chassis tray.

Apply Liquid Flux
2 minApply a generous amount of flux to the HDMI port anchor pins and signal pads on the motherboard.

Desolder HDMI Port
6 minHeat the anchor pins and signal pads using a hot air station set to 380°C until the solder melts.

Remove Damaged Port
2 minGently lift the old HDMI port off the motherboard using tweezers once the solder is fully liquid.

Clean Circuit Pads
5 minClear old solder from the pads using desoldering braid, then clean the area with isopropyl alcohol.

Solder New Port
10 minPosition the new HDMI port, apply flux, and solder all anchor posts and individual signal pins to the board.
