Before you begin
Tools
- T8 Security Torx screwdriver

Step-by-step

Eject the battery pack
1 minPress the release button at the top of the battery compartment and slide the battery pack off the controller.

Expose the hidden screw
2 minPeel back or puncture the barcode sticker inside the battery compartment to reveal the center security screw.

Unscrew the rear casing
4 minUse a T8 Security Torx screwdriver to remove all seven screws from the back shell.

Separate the housing shells
2 minGently lift the rear casing straight off the front assembly.

Lift out the motherboard
2 minCarefully lift the main circuit board and attached rumble motors out of the front plastic shell.

Detach thumbstick caps
2 minPull both plastic analog thumbstick caps straight off their potentiometer shafts.

Remove rubber button pads
2 minLift the conductive silicone rubber pads away from the front housing and motherboard contacts.

Clean button contacts
3 minDampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and clean the gold contacts on the motherboard.

Flush thumbstick potentiometers
4 minApply electrical contact cleaner inside the joystick modules while rotating the metal shafts to remove dirt.

Position button rubber pads
2 minAlign and press the silicone rubber button pads into their guide pins inside the front shell.

Seat the motherboard
3 minLower the circuit board into the front shell, ensuring the triggers and battery springs seat correctly.

Press thumbstick caps on
2 minPush the thumbstick caps firmly onto the metal potentiometer shafts until fully seated.

Secure the rear casing
4 minPlace the back shell onto the controller and reinsert the seven T8 Security Torx screws.

Reattach the battery pack
1 minSlide the battery pack into the rear housing until it snaps locked.
