   Unplug all connected cables

   Disconnect the power supply brick, HDMI cable, and all external accessories from the console. Never attempt liquid damage repair while power is connected.

   Remove the hard drive

   Slide the hard drive cover release latch on the right side of the console to open the door. Pull the fabric tab straight out to slide the internal hard drive out of its bay.

   Pry off the top vent grille

   Insert a plastic opening tool into the seams of the top vent grille. Gently prying along the perimeter to release the plastic retaining clips, then lift the grille away.

   Detach the bottom vent grille

   Insert your plastic opening tool between the bottom grille seam and the outer chassis. Pop the perimeter locking tabs free and remove the bottom vent panel.

   Unclip the outer plastic casing

   Use a spudger through the side vent slots to depress the internal locking tabs holding the shell halves together. Separate and remove the outer plastic case halves.

   Disconnect the front power ribbon cable

   Tilt the front faceplate slightly forward to access the power button ribbon cable. Use tweezers to release the ZIF connector clip and carefully slide the ribbon cable out.

   Remove the metal casing Torx screws

   Use a Torx T10 screwdriver to remove the five long silver screws securing the outer metal shield. Set the screws aside in a safe place.

   Lift away the upper metal chassis

   Grasp the edges of the upper steel shield and pull it straight up off the console. Set the shield aside for cleaning.

   Disconnect and remove the optical drive

   Lift the DVD drive slightly and disconnect the SATA cable and power cable from its rear ports. Lift the optical drive straight out of the case.

    Unscrew and remove the Wi-Fi module

    Remove the single Torx T8 screw securing the Wi-Fi card to the metal side chassis. Unplug the card from its internal header slot.

    Detach the front RF board

    Remove the two Torx T8 screws securing the power button RF board to the front of the frame. Pull the board straight forward off its connector pin assembly.

    Extract the motherboard assembly

    Lift the motherboard along with its heatsink assembly straight up out of the lower metal pan. Be careful not to bend the board.

    Scrub corrosion with isopropyl alcohol

    Dip a soft anti-static brush in 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub all liquid residue and white corrosion from the motherboard. Pay close attention to chip pins and surface-mount components.

    Inspect and dry all board components

    Examine the cleaned motherboard under a magnifying glass to check for missing SMD components or remaining corrosion. Allow all cleaned parts to dry completely for at least 24 hours before reassembly.
